New year brings hope for better future

By Roberto Trevino Jr., MD

Happy New Year! First of all, I thank God for the many physicians who have dedicated their time and effort to our society. Bexar County Medical Society is a more organized, financially sound institution because of their actions. I wish to thank the members of our society for the privilege of serving as president in 2012. Your continued support will be greatly appreciated. My goal for this year is simply to represent all physicians and make a difference.

With this new year comes the hope and expectation for a better tomorrow. It is a future which we can establish by conducting ourselves in a unified, collaborative effort. There is no doubt that we will face many challenges but together these can be overcome. BCMS has always been committed to the practice of medicine by physicians and improved health care for our community.

The time to relinquish our responsibility to others is now over. We must dedicate ourselves to become part of the solution and help resolve the many healthcare problems. The great point which I wish to make is we must participate in all aspects of healthcare. Do not allow the future to be determined by non-physicians. We must form a greater alliance with Texas Medical Association in order to achieve our goals. Participation within the society is the key ingredient for our success.

It is my hope that physicians will enrich our society by their continued support and their many talents. Participation in BCMS can be both rewarding and fulfilling.
Join us to form a better tomorrow.
