PHYSICIANS NEED HELP SOMETIMES, TOO!
GIVE
to the PHR Assistance Fund and help a
Colleague
Since
1983, the TMA’s Physician
Health and Rehabilitation (PHR) Assistance Fund has helped many
financially destitute physicians who are in treatment or in recovery from Substance
Use Disorders, Depression, and other impairments. Your
contribution does make a difference
in the lives of physicians and their family members.
By giving now, you can ensure that physicians who need emergency assistance
will not be turned away, and that the good work of the fund continues.
Please assist physicians who are in
recovery and need financial
assistance (loans) for treatment to help them move forward with dignity. Send your heartfelt
donation to the PHR Assistance Fund today,
since they rely on donations to help
continue this important work of restoring
the life of a colleague.

Why do
we need the PHR Assistant Fund?
Current estimates are that 10 to 15 percent
of health care professionals will misuse drugs or alcohol at some point during
their careers. When physicians receive
treatment, sometimes the only source
they can turn to for money to help pay expenses during treatment and recovery is
the Physician Health and Rehabilitation Assistance
Fund. Will you help us lend a
hand to those who are trying to help themselves?
What is
the PHR Assistant Fund?
Developed by the PHR Committee 1983, the fund
provides financial assistance to physicians who cannot afford treatment for
Substance Use Disorders, Depression, and other problems, whose families need
help with short-term living expenses while a physician receives treatment. More than 85 loans have been granted,
totaling almost $270,000.
How does
the PHR Assistant Fund Work?
Physicians seeking assistance obtain a loan
application from the PHR Assistance Fund. After loan review from the PHR Committee and
TMA Alliance members, the application may be recommended for approval from the
TMA Board of Trustees. After loan approval, the applicant signs a loan
agreement to make good-faith payments to pay the principal and interest.
How is
the PHR Assistant Fund funded?
The PHR
Assistance Fund relies on donations to help continue this important
work. Will you help restore the life of
a colleague today? Please
help physicians who are in recovery and need financial assistance to complete
their recovery.
