Members of the BCMS Legislative and Socioeconomics
Committee held their monthly meeting on Aug. 24 at the Society
headquarters. BCMS Legislative and Socioeconomics Committee
continues work to prepare for legislative session The BCMS Legislative and
Socioeconomics Committee held their monthly meeting on Aug. 24 to continue
working on plans for the upcoming legislative session, which kicks off in
January 2017. Among the topics discussed were the committee goals and
strategic plan for the committee going forward. Some of the highlights
included: having continued visits with each of our state
representatives and state senators to discuss issues of importance to
medicine and establishing key physician contacts by legislative district to
lead discussions with our elected officials as opportunities arise and in
preparation for the First Tuesdays visits to the Capitol. For local discussion on these and

Prescription Pad Orders Effective September 1,
2016, the Texas Prescription Program transferred to the Texas State Board of
Pharmacy (TSBP). This includes the oversight and processing of the official
prescription pads for Schedule II prescriptions. For information
