Governor Abbott Announces Phase 3 of Re-Opening Texas

On June 3, Governor Abbott announced his third phase of reopening Texas effective immediately while continuing to follow minimum health protocols laid out by the Texas Department of State Health Services. View Governor’s Executive Order

Bexar County’s Stay at Home Order expired on June 4, 2020 and Judge Nelson Wolff has released an Executive Order and still recommends following public health guidelines.

Human Trafficking CME Required for Medical License Renewal

To raise awareness of and help curb human trafficking in Texas, state legislators passed

a law last year requiring direct patient care physicians who renew their medical license after

Sept. 1, 2020, to take one hour of CME that addresses human trafficking. The free course is designed to educate health care professionals on how to treat and respond to people who are at risk or who have been trafficked.

Resources for Re-Opening Your Practice

With practices reopening and COVID-19 stay at home orders relax, physicians are now under new safety standards and guidelines. Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) is providing physicians with resources to help them safely re-open their practice. View resources

Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) Issues Updates

DWC is working to help system participants and protect the health and safety of the public during the Coronavirus (COVID-19). On June 4th, the Commissioner issued a bulletin on resuming certain designated doctor examinations and required medical examinations
