CDC Drops Quarantine Recommendation for Those Exposed to COVID
Instead of quarantining if you're exposed to COVID-19, wear a high-quality mask for 10 days and get tested on or after day 5, irrespective of vaccination status, the CDC suggested in revised COVID guidelines issued Thursday. Read more

Monkeypox: What Bexar County Doctors Need to Know
The United States now leads the world in Monkeypox cases, with more than 6,300 of the 25,391 cases worldwide. Dallas has the most cases in Texas, followed by Houston, Austin, and then San Antonio, which has 13 cases as of this writing. From now on, Monkeypox will belong in our differential diagnosis of herpes and other unexplained rashes, especially when vesicular, pustular or nodular. For the generalist, here is a quick primer by public health.

New FAQ Offers Information on Virtual Credit Card Payments
Federal authorities are clarifying the legality of health plans paying claims through virtual credit cards, which typically result in fees for practices. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released an FAQ with information on virtual credit card transactions in relation to HIPAA requirements. For more information click here.

Medicare ACOs Face Key Changes in Proposed Fee Schedule
In an effort to boost participation in accountable care organizations (ACOs), Medicare has significant changes to its shared savings program on tap in the proposed 2023 physician fee schedule, and TMA reviews the details of the proposed regulation and will submit comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
