Outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in Central Uganda
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is issuing this Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory about a recently confirmed outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) in Uganda caused by Sudan virus to summarize CDC’s recommendations for U.S. public health departments and clinicians, case identification and testing, and clinical laboratory biosafety considerations. Read more

Upcoming Flu Season, Vaccine Hesitancy Could Intensify as Side Effects of Pandemic
San Antonio infectious disease specialist Charles Lerner, MD, expects a more severe flu season this winter as well as continued vaccine hesitancy, both of which he says are byproducts of the ongoing pandemic. Physicians can help mitigate this risk by encouraging patients to get their flu vaccines as soon as possible. Continue reading

CDC Recommends Watch for Uptick in Acute Flaccid Myelitis in Kids with Severe Respiratory Illness
According to a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) health alert, Physicians should be vigilant for an uptick in severe respiratory illness requiring hospitalization in children who also test positive for rhinovirus or enterovirus. Read more

Interim Clinical Considerations for Monkeypox Vaccination
The U.S. national monkeypox vaccine strategy was announced on June 28, 2022. Multiple federal agencies, including the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are coordinating to implement this enhanced vaccination strategy. Click here to find out more information.

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) lead a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise cybersecurity awareness nationally and internationally. Read more
