BCMS Induction Banquet

Dr. Sheldon Gross was inducted as the 2018 President of the Bexar County Medical Society on Jan. 20 during a ceremony at the Mays Family Center at the Witte Museum.

Banquet attendees applaud outgoing President Leah Jacobson, MD, during the BCMS induction ceremony.

TMA Survey

Every two years, TMA conducts a survey of Texas physicians – tracking the impact of regulatory changes, identifying emerging issues, and assessing physician priorities.

Physicians can only access the 2018 secure survey via an emailed link from TMA. Questions will be sent to you once a month from January to August and take about 15 minutes to complete. Your answers – specifically on all eight survey installments – will help ensure TMA data are significant and authoritative.

The first survey was sent on Jan. 8 so check your inbox. If you did not receive an email from TMA, please alert Jessica.Davis@texmed.org.

Your survey responses will shape the future of health care. Physician feedback from 2016 was used to 1) provide the U.S. Department of Justice with evidence of difficulty with health plan contracting, 2) guide policy recommendations of the TMA Balance Billing Task Force, and 3) show how inadequate payments in Medicaid have hurt access to care. To view these results in full, as well as surveys from previous years, visit: www.texmed.org/Surveys.

Call for Resolutions

The deadline to submit resolutions for review by the BCMS Delegation to TMA is Jan. 31.  If you have an issue you would like to address in the form of a resolution, the time to do this is now.  At the local level, members of the BCMS Delegation to TMA will meet in early February to review all resolutions submitted for consideration.  Resolutions will be reviewed and then voted on by the delegation members to determine which resolutions will be forwarded to TMA for consideration by the House of Delegates during TexMed 2018 scheduled for May 18-19, 2018.
